August 31, 2010, overall (34 sets) Sinovel SL3000 wind turbines on Shanghai Donghai Bridge 100MW offshore wind farm (the demonstration project) had successfully passed the 240-hour pre-assessment & check.

The first prototype turbine of this project was hoisted and mounted on March 20, 2009, by one shot; then the initial batch of 3 wind turbines were officially put into operation on September 4 and had completed the 240-hour pre-assessment & check by February 3, 2010. October 20, 2009, 31 wind turbines were installed and by February 27, 2010, 34 wind turbines were successfully set up on the farm. From August 9, 2010 through August 31, 2010, the follow-up 31 wind turbines all completed the 240-hour pre-assessment & check. By then, all the 34 wind turbines passed the 240-hour pre-assessment & check with respect to the offshore wind farm project.

Until 24:00 of August 30, 2010, the 34 wind turbines on Donghai Bridge Wind Farm had generated 48,272WMh, on accumulative basis.

The Shanghai Donghai Bridge 100MW offshore wind farm power project is the first offshore wind power project outside Europe and meanwhile, China's first national offshore wind power pilot project. It is located in the administrative waters of Shanghai, on the east of Donghai Bridge, 8-13km from the shoreline, and with an average water depth of 10 meters. The project has the total installed capacity of 102 MW, using 34 Sinovel 3MW offshore wind turbines. The annual power output is expected to reach 260 million kWh, able to meet the needs of over 200,000 Shanghai households for one year. The electricity will be transmitted through the submarine cable to mainland Shanghai. The project will save 100,000 tons of coal each year and reduce the carbon dioxide emission by 200,000t.

The Donghai Bridge Wind Farm achieved a number of "firsts" in Chinese history of wind farm construction: the first time to use 3MW offshore turbines that are domestically independently developed, indicating that China was ranked as one of the world's most advanced in manufacturing high-power wind turbines; the first time to use integral hoisting of offshore wind turbines, greatly reducing the construction period at sea by enabling the assembly of 10 units on board and hoisting 8 units at sea within one month; the first time in the world to use high-rise pile cap foundation design, an effective solution to technical problems such as bearing, uplift resistance, and horizontal displacement of tall wind turbines.
